About the Founders' Guidebook

Founders' Guidebook is a hub for entrepreneurs who want to learn the secrets of building a successful startup. It's based on a series of posts, each one focusing on a different subject. It also offers different resources (e.g. budget worksheet, a work plan for investors, etc.).

My mission with the Founders' Guidebook is to help other entrepreneurs to avoid the mistakes me and many other first time entrepreneurs have done. It's what I have hoped to have as a novice entrepreneur.

I hope you'll find the content in this site to be a real guide in the progress of building your startup. Please feel free to contact me with any ideas, comments or requests. I look forward to hearing from you!

About Me - Shahar Pitaru

I'm an entrepreneur, mentor and a business consultant. I help startups grow their business faster and more effectively. More specifically, I help startups to focus on the most suitable market, define a winning business model, and develop an effective go-to-market strategy. I also guide startups how to better 'tell their story' and successfully raise capital.

I'm very active in the Israeli start-up scene. Among others, I mentor at Google Campus TLV,  SeedCamp and MassChallenge.

I'm also the Co-founder of Plant.ly - an online asset allocation service, which won the audience award at the TechCrunch Disrupt 2010 event (http://techcrunch.com/2010/05/25/plantly/).

Prior to co-founding Plantly I provided financial services in the fields of companies funding and legal proceedings.

I also served as a Financial Analyst Manager at the Israeli branch of Procter & Gamble, were I managed all the financial aspects of 6 brands, with annual sales of more than $25MM.

Prior to that, I served as the Process Development Manager at Colbar Life Sciences Ltd - a biotech stat-up company that was sold to Johnson & Johnson for $159M. Under this role, I managed the development of Colbar's main product (Evolence) from concept to industrial manufacturing, while inventing new methods for manufacturing Collagen based bio-materials.

From the academic perspective, I hold an MBA (Magna Cum Laude), with double major in Finance and Strategy, from Tel-Aviv University. I also hold a bachelor degree in Medical Sciences from the Sackler Faculty of Medicine at Tel-Aviv University.
